Need an excuse to get away from all
the hustle and bustle? We invite you to come relax waterfront at Pickwick
Lakes "Big Bear Cabin"
located on a unique section of Big Bear Creek. A beautiful stone
bluff wall stretching across this wild and scenic river makes the perfect picturic backdrop. An easily accessible private floating dock and boat ramp are
within just a few steps from your back door. A rustic stone and aromatic cedar
cabin will make your stay special. Pickwick Lake is highly regarded as one of
the best boating and sport fishing lakes in the south. At summer pool it
provides nearly 490 miles of winding shoreline and over 43,000 surface acres.
Pickwick Reservoir extends 53 miles to Wilson Dam and connects to the Tombigbee
Waterway, which can be taken all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Whether your
passion is fishing, boating, sightseeing, photography, hunting, hiking, bird
watching, canoeing, golfing or just plain relaxing, look no further (see list of
nearby attractions and adventure possibilities). Beautiful Pickwick Lake is
world renowned for its smallmouth bass, as well as trophy catfish, striper,
largemouth, crappie, bream and sauger fishing possibilities. Truly a fisherman’s
paradise with good fishing year round and some of the most varied waters in the
nation! Fish whatever style you prefer such as shallow sloughs, grass filled
backwaters, gravel beds, sunken islands, standing timber, rocky points, deep
drop-offs and bluffs, feeder streams and lots of underwater structure. Good
fishing can often be found right off the cabin dock. Outstanding hunting
opportunities for deer, turkey, hog, duck/geese, quail, dove, rabbit, raccoon
and squirrel are available on nearby WMA and TVA areas. Winter’s are usually mild and
are visited by eagles. Spring is colorful with an abundance of blooming trees
and flowers while the creek fills up with running/spawning fish. Summer is
popular for bass, bream, and catfishing as well as water sports. The fall foliage is
beautiful and blessed with another run of fish. You’ll probably never want to
leave the cabin area although we are within 30 minutes from seven other major
lakes, rivers and reservoirs. Conveniently located just 1.5 miles off hwy. 72
between Corinth MS and Florence AL (both about a 30 minute drive away). Situated
halfway between Pickwick and Wilson Dams. Only two hours from Memphis, an hour
from Tupelo, a little more than two hours from Birmingham, less than two hours
from Huntsville and less than three hours from Nashville. Only 10 minutes away
from shopping and restaurants in Iuka MS. Discover an embayment section of
Pickwick that is unspoiled, peaceful and away from the crowds, yet very
convenient. Special enough for the honeymooners, the perfect family getaway, a
hunters dream, designed with both the weekend angler and tournament fisherman in
mind.
